This week was a big one for conservationists across the globe as new species of great ape was discovered.
The new species of orangutan was found in an remote forest on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
However celebrations of the discovery are shadowed by concerns. Estimates show that less than 800 individuals of the new species may remain in the wild.
This is largely due to habitat destruction – which at current rates could wipe out the species quickly.
Conservationists are hopeful that this recent discovery will help raise awareness of the plight of orangutans.
